Corpus Christi Hammerheads Owner and President Chad Dittman announced today that the IFL Franchise has signed WR Brandon Hussey and OL/DL Wilbert Martin for the 2010 season.

Hussey, (5-9, 175, Winston Salem State) holds virtually every receiving record for the defunct Corpus Christi Sharks. Last season Hussey had 105 catches for a team leading 1341 yards and 20 touchdowns. Hussey was also used in the ground attack and kick returns… Click to Read More

CORPUS CHRISTI - The Hammerheads have tabbed former player and West Oso assistant football Coach Steven Fillmore to be their new head coach.

The 27-year-old former linebacker and 2001 West Oso High School graduate was introduced at a press conference this afternoon.  Fillmore leaves the playing field after a three-year stint on the Corpus Christi defense, which included two trips to league championship games.

CORPUS CHRISTI - The list of potential Hammerheads coaches is down to three. Former coach Jason Mckinley pulled out of the running, deciding against a return to the team he coached for four seasons.

Team owner Chad Dittman is still negotiating with former Corpus Christi Sharks coach Mike Trigg along with Hammerhead players Schuyler Anderson and Steven Fillmore, and says a decision will be made by Friday at the latest.

CORPUS CHRISTI - Hickel Woolery twice finished among the top 25 NCAA discus throwers in the nation before exhausting his eligibility with the Islanders track and field team.

CORPUS CHRISTI - The original Corpus Christi Hammerhead is swimming north.

Head Coach Roy Salas resigned his position Wednesday, to take a similar position with his alma mater, St. Anthony's in San Antonio.  He's been named the Head Coach and Athletic Director for the Catholic High School.

CORPUS CHRISTI - Corpus Christi Hammerheads Owner and President Chad Dittman announced today that the IFL Franchise has signed DB Jason Lee and QB Sedale Threatt for the 2010 season.

Jason Lee, (6-0, 190, Texas A&M Kingsville) was a defensive standout in the secondary last season for the Hammerheads. CORPUS CHRISTI - The Corpus Christi Hammerheads are changing their recruiting tactics a bit this year. Simply put, they want locals.

CORPUS CHRISTI - There will be no postseason for the Hammerheads, thanks to last night's 82-75 defeat at the hands of San Angelo. The Stampede claimed the head-to-head matchup, ending the fishes' hope at the playoffs.

CORPUS CHRISTI - Thanks to the actions of former Hammerheads defensive lineman Eli Ibrahim, the team's backs are now up against the wall, in a must-win situation Saturday against San Angelo.

We all remember the melee in Robstown involving number 77 sucker-punching a referee after being tossed from the game in the first quarter.

CORPUS CHRISTI - The IFL has banned Hammerheads lineman Eli Ibrahim for life, after he punched an official during Saturday's game against Abilene.

Ibrahim, number 77, was ejected during the first half of the game after getting dinged with a pair of personal fouls.

CORPUS CHRISTI - A member of the Hammerheads is facing criminal charges after he punched an official during Saturday night's game at the Robstown Fairgrounds.

Eli Ibraham was booked into the Nueces County Jail on an assault charge after striking official Joel Hilliard during the first quarter of a game with Abilene on Saturday. On Monday, the league took action as well.

CORPUS CHRISTI - Hammerhead's defensive lineman Eli Abraham, who was arrested Saturday after police say he hit a referee, is out of jail Sunday on a $1,000 bond.

However, officials said he could be facing more problems.

During the game, Abraham was kicked out of the game in the first quarter, but he never left, and he never took his pads off. Then, in the second quarter, he ran back on the field, argued, then ultimately punched Referee Joel Hilliard.

CORPUS CHRISTI - A Corpus Christi Hammerheads player could be charged with assaulting a ref at Saturday's game against Abilene.

Robstown police said around 7:45 p.m. Saturday evening, Eli Abraham was ejected from the game for unsportsmanship conduct. KRIS 6 News was told he got back up from the bench, walked over and slapped referee Joe Hilliard.

Hilliard fell to the ground and police said he wants to file charges against the football player.

CORPUS CHRISTI - The Hammerheads have gone from being unknown to one of the most popular teams in the IFL.

Currently sitting in third in the Lone Star Division, the red-and-blue's mid-season rally has them closing in on a playoff spot.

However, Abilene will be a test this Saturday in Robstown. The Roughriders are 6-5 on the year and a game in front of Corpus Christi.

CORPUS CHRISTI - For the first time in a long time, the Hammerheads are among the bottom feeders of the Intense Football League, sitting second to last in the Lone Star Division.

The only team worse in their conference, Odessa, is their opponent tonight.

Scoring, or lack thereof, has been the big issue for the Hammers, who have managed no more than 37 points in a single game this season.

CORPUS CHRISTI - Four games into the season, the Hammerheads have already used three quarterbacks.

Former Javelina Cory Iles started game one, ex-Kansas State star Michael Bishop played most of games two and three and Ty Sellers took snaps in game four. In doing so, the teams has been unable to score any points.

CORPUS CHRISTI - Former Cowboys quarterback Quincy Carter is the focus of the Hammerheads attention this week, as Carter comes to town Saturday leading the Abilene Ruff Riders.

Carter has been arrested multiple times for drug possession since the Cowboys released him in 2004, and is currently facing a DWI charge in Hidalgo County.
