City of Corpus Christi Press Release
The City of Corpus Christi received notice earlier today that a group called the “Friends of the Coliseum” has filed suit to stop the demolition of Memorial Coliseum. A Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) was granted as part of injunction proceedings. A TRO is a short term measure designed to retain the status quo or in this case stop demolition until the Court can have a full hearing. The hearing is set for March 25, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the 250th District Court in Travis County, where the suit was filed.
There are three steps to injunction proceedings which include: a temporary restraining order, a temporary injunction and a permanent injunction. City staff will review the specific merits of the suit to determine appropriate action.

Why are people upset with whats happening. What I see is that these groups are doing the right thing and are standing up for what is right. It took what 6 years for a vote to demolish the building? why so long? May be because they knew they could not take any proyects that are for profit (is in the deed) and the land has restrictions (can't be sold nor lease for profit)So, why the city waisted 6 years of our time and those peoples who's proyects where "studying" and then turn down? I hope they didnt use our tax money to study those proyects!! And what about the Mayor's ethics to do business? I believe he is one of the advisory commissions of Realtors in Houston!! He should know better than that not to have conflict of interest!! So, It is not his first conflic of interest!! Did everyone forget about the proyect on hold he won't let go because the city wont return his deposit and will only give him back 15,000 dollars!! and if those groups keep digging more, I am sure not just the Mayor of this city will be in trouble... You people should be upset of your City Councils and Mayor not the people.

Now we get to expend more tax dollars to counter this latest effort by citizens who can not accept change. Why didn't they come forward years ago? Another eyesore will stand as a reminder why our youth leave this city and never come back. I'm counting the days until I can get out of this divided city.
