ROBSTOWN - Cottonpickers Baseball Coach Steve Castro has led Robstown to two state championships and more than 700 victories.

He's not sure he'll be able to add to that total.

Castro was suspended indefinitely by the school district on Tuesday for UIL rules violations that occurred prior to a home tournament game on February 26th. A district investigation revealed that non-school district employees were seen pitching to Robstown players in a school batting cage before a matchup with Seguin.

Castro agrees with the district findings, but says he had no idea it was going on at the time.

"I never saw it happen," he said. "They did the investigation and I know it did happen. But if I was around, I guarantee you, it would have stopped right away."

Robstown Athletic Director Doug Wood did not return calls for comment.

What is the big deal about non-district emp pitching is it a UIL rule ??  Seems to me it a whole more than that.

What I don't understand is why should coach castro be responsible for other individuals wrong doings. Furthermore, how credible is the person that saw the non-school district employee? Unless, it was another robstown coach or an employee that witnessed the incident.  If this was the case why didnt this eyewitness inform this to coach castro, they were bold enough to bring it to the school district but they could not or didnt want to inform coach of the problem in hand.  In additon, if another district employee witnessed the incident and failed to adress the problem shouldnt they also be resposible? It seems like the school district and certain individuals are looking for any reason to tarnish coach castro's legacy.

That is just ridiculous. What if it was the kids parent?  Would that be a violation of the rule?

What in the world has this come to?
I do not know what the rules are any more!!
But this has to be an inside-outside job of someone trying to get my friend, Steve Castro,
to be ousted as coach of my alma mater, R.H.S.
I would love to review all rules and policies with anyone!!
I was, and am, a loyal Picker-ex, and all of the rest of what is expected to be ,
rule abiding, and law abiding, fan and local person, ex-students member that backs
our students in all athletic events.  God save the planet, and all of R.H.S.
exes that are willing to stand up and be counted.  What a sham and a shame for
all individuals involved in this politically motivated effort to remove Coach Steve Castro!!!!!!!!!!!!!
