RICHARDSON, Tex. - For the second straight week, Texas A&M-Kingsville senior point guard Kayla Naylor (Corpus Christi/Calallen HS) has been named the Lone Star Conference South Division Offensive Player of the Week.
Naylor, Kinesiology major, led the Javelinas to a 1-1 week as they split two games with Abilene Christian. First, she had 18 points, six rebounds and three steals in the 59-55 loss at ACU. On Saturday, she came back with 18 points and six assists. She sparked a 16-2 run in the second half to break open a tie game. She hit a jumper and a three-pointer on back-to-back possessions to score the first five points of the run. The 18 points in each game was her career high.
Naylor has earned three LSC South Division Player of the Week honors this year. She is closing in on the school record for career assists and needs just 23 more to pass Lorie Martinez who had 370 from 1997-01.
